The Community College operates a homework timetable that supports our belief in the importance of study beyond the classroom. Homework is integral to the curriculum and forms and important part of the overall learning process. On average, students can expect to receive no less than 30 minutes per subject per fortnight in Years 7 to 9, and at least 45 minutes to 1 hour per subject per fortnight in Years 10 and 11.
Each student will be issued with a homework timetable at the start of each academic year. The basic principles we apply to homework are:
- Teachers are expected to set meaningful and relevant work that reinforces, extends or enriches the curriculum experience for students.
- Students are expected to complete all homework set to the very best of their ability, and certainly by the deadline.
- Parents are requested to support their children in the successful completion of homework, by monitoring the Student Planner and by establishing a ‘homework routine’.
